Emission Characteristics of Methyl Ester of Rice Bran Oil as Fuel in Compression Ignition Engine
نویسنده
چکیده
The emission characteristics of methyl ester of refined rice bran oil – diesel blend mixed in the proportion of 10:90, 20:80, 30:70, 50:50 and 10:0 (v/v) were studied. The emission of carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons, nitric oxide and nitrogen di oxide by different fuels at various load on 3.73 kW C.I. engine were compared with respect to diesel. The emission of carbon monoxide from the engine was found to be lower on all the blends of methyl ester of rice bran oil-diesel compared to diesel at rated load. The emission of unburnt hydrocarbon from the engine at higher loads was found to be more on all the fuel blend as compared to diesel. The emission of Nox from the engine found to be higher on the all fuel blend as compared to diesel. Keywords—Methyle ester, rice bran oil, compression ignition engine.

The performance, emission and combustion characteristics of a single cylinder four stroke variable compression ratio multi fuel engine when fueled with different blends of rice bran oil methyl ester and ethanol are investigated and compared with the results of standard diesel. Bio diesel produced from Rice bran oil by transesterification process has been used in this study. Experiment has been ...
متن کاملEffect of Compression Ratio on Emission of CI Engine using Neat Karanja Oil and Karanja Oil Methyl Ester Blends
The standard design parameters of a compression ignition engine fail to give specified performance with strait vegetable oil (SVO) from different origins. This study is performed to find the effect of compression ratio on emission characteristics such as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbon (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and smoke opacity with all the tested fuels in a single cy...
متن کاملA Comparative Study on the use of Butyl Esters of Soyabean and Sunflower Oils as Biodiesel Fuel for Compression Ignition Engine
To study the feasibility of using two edible plant oils as diesel substitute a comparative study was made. Oils were exacted from the seeds of soyabean (Glycine Max, Family: Leguminoceae) and sunflower(Helianthus annuus, Family: Asteraceae/Compositeae). Oils were esterified (butyl esters) before blending with pure diesel in the ratio of 10:90, 15:85, 20:80, and 25:75 by volume. Pure diesel was ...

The present study focuses on the optimization in the use of non-petroleum fuel derived from waste fish oil fuels, as a replacement for petroleum diesel fuel for compression ignition engine. The study comprises of comparison between results of fish oil biodiesel-diesel blends on a compression ignition engine. Fuel properties such as viscosity, density, heat value of fuel, cetane number and a fla...
متن کاملComparative study of Performance and Emission Characteristics of a Diesel Engine Fueled by Castor and jatropha methyl Ester with the help of T Test
Biofuels are playing important role in recent decades as substitutes for petro diesel. Biodiesel derived from vegetable oils are found to give comparable performance and emission characteristics. In this paper a comparative study has been done between two fuels combinations i.e. jatropha and castor. The biodiesel was prepared from neat oils and blends of biodiesel (up till 20%) were prepared...
